Copp Back Yard Homes – Living Large in a Small Space

There are many advantages to adding another living space to a property and a variety of reasons to do it. At Copp Backyard Homes (CBYH), a division of Copp’s Buildall, they’re offering little homes with big impact.

CBYH’s four home builds range from 395 to 800 square feet. They all meet Ontario building codes and are covered under the Tarion new home warranty.

“Our units are designed to be open and airy,” says branch manager Mac Copp, a  fifth-generation member of the family that has owned the business for a century. “I think a lot of people could be comfortable living in them.”

The spacious units start with one bedroom, and one bathroom and go up to two beds, and two baths. Each has a combination kitchen/dining/living space and a separate laundry area plus storage.

“Our units are designed to be open and airy. It’s a space that I think a lot of people could be really comfortable living in.”

“It’s apartment living on a piece of land you already own,” adds design assistant Averil Copp. “We take care of everything from building permits through all stages of construction, organizing tradespeople and all legal work.”

The backyard home is hooked up to the existing house for water and other services.

“It’s much more affordable than a resale home,” Mac says. “Look at other options like a mobile trailer, something on wheels isn’t up to code and it’s three-season living. A container home – they’re pretty small.”

Tour the model homes by appointment at 1640 Fanshawe Park Road West.
