Custom touches help family feel right at home

The Mackenzies used the plan for Vranic Homes’ Hillcrest model – a two-storey, four-bedroom home – customized to fit their tastes and lifestyle.

A year ago, Brenda and Justin Mackenzie made a significant lifestyle change. They exchanged their suburban life for one in the small town of Ilderton. The couple and their three daughters couldn’t be happier living in their new home, built by Vranic Homes in the Clear Skies neighbourhood.

“It was the first time we built a home, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat,” Brenda Mackenzie says. “There’s absolutely nothing I would change.” She credits this success to builder John Vranic. “He’s definitely not the norm as a builder,” she says. “He’s completely hands-on and pays close attention to detail.”

The Mackenzies used the plan for Vranic Homes’ Hillcrest model, a two-storey, four-bedroom home customized to fit their tastes and lifestyle. Here Vranic’s attention to detail was an asset, Mackenzie says. “I’m a designer, so knew what I wanted, and everything was done to our specifications and to suit our needs.”

A major customization was finishing the basement. This added a fifth bedroom, along with a three-piece bath and a large recreation room, including a nook converted to an office space for Justin.
