Village Soho, located on the grounds of the former Victoria Hospital site on South Street, is an innovative collaboration between six non-profit housing developer corporations offering a mix of housing options in London. “It’s a unique project, and the planners and architects are fielding calls from across Canada about how this came to be,” says Ed Wszol, a board member of the Chelsea Green Home Society, which is one of the partners. “The area also has historical significance, and we like to acknowledge that; and we are proud of that fact.”
The Chelsea Green Home Society is now taking applications for Chelsea on the Thames at 373 Hill Street. The 81-unit building offers one-bedroom, one-bedroom-plus-den, two-bedroom and three-bedroom suites, priced below full market value (FMV). “We’ve been working to maximize all we can provide in terms of affordability,” Wszol says.
The Society has 40 years of experience creating housing that supports the dignity, stability and sense of belonging of all its tenants. This development is close to the downtown core and also near the peaceful river trails along the Thames. The apartments are tastefully designed, with some including balconies or terraces as well as barrier-free access.
While some of the apartments are already occupied, Wszol says they are looking forward to welcoming more tenants. There is a model suite available for viewing, and the public can find more information on the Chelsea Green Home Society website.
